Royal Cigar Factory (Spanish: Real Fábrica de Tabacos) - a building built in 1728–1771 in Seville by Sebastian van der Brocht, known for the opera Carmen, measuring 185 by 147 m. It is the second largest in Spain after the Madrid Escort ( 207 x 162 m). Since the mid-twentieth century, it has been the seat of the Rector's Office of the University of Seville, as well as some faculties
In the period of its greatest development, the factory employed thousands of women making cigars from tobacco leaves. The complex consisted of many halls, granaries, on the terraces of which tobacco leaves were laid out before being dried in special ovens. Moreover, the factory had its own police, court and prison.
